Dominion Conference Of Scout Lay Members
(P.A.) ROTORUA, This Day. The first Dominion Conference of scout lay members opened last night, when some 80 delegates were welcomed by the Mayor of Rotorua (Mr P. Kusabst. Business sessions commenced this morning, when Mr Hector Christie, 0.8. E.. president of the Dominion Council, read a telegram of greetings from the Dominion Chief Scout (Ilis Excellency Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C.). It was decided to reply congratulating the Governor General and Lady Freyberg on their silver wedding anniversary, and to Her Excellency on the anniversary of her birthday. Mr Christie spoke on scouting's place in the community, and a message on the status of lay members, from Sir Joseph Smith, who was absent through illness, was read.
