HIGHER PRICES FOR CONFECTIONERY
(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. Some manufacturers of chocolate and confectionary have advised retailers that the prices of their products are subject to an immediate rise.
Retailers also forecast an increase in retail prices. The New Zealand Confectioners and Biscuit Manufacturers’ Association is waiting for the decision of the Price Tribunal, which has been considering a request for a general price increase. A reply is expected during the next few days. A firm which made an independent application has advised customers that its wholesale rates for plain milk and dark slab chocolate would be increased by 4d per lb, and confectionery by 2d to 3d per lb.
