Alliance Objects To Liquor Advts

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The general superintendent of the New Zealand Alliance (Mr Milner) telegraphed the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) saying that the Alliance protests emphatically against the removal of the liquor advertising restrictions by Order-in-Council less than, a fortnight bbfore Parliament meets. “We regret that action so favourable to the liquor trade in so many directions should be taken without the promised debate in the House on the Royal Commission’s report,” he said. “The report recommends retention of the present restrictions on screen, hoarding and air advertising, except a slight increase 'in newspaper space under exceptional circumstances. “Many of the liquor restrictions were asked for by the police and are still very necessary. “Considering the many war regulations which still remain, we respectfully urge that at least Section 18 of emergency regulations be exempted from the Order-in-Council.”
