N.Z. Doctor To Study T.B. Abroad

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The Minister of Health (Miss Howard) stated yesterday that the Government had decided to send the director of the division of tuberculosis in the Department of Health (Dr C. A. Taylor) to Europe. Dr Taylor expects to leave Auckland on June 19 by air for Sydney, and to return to New Zealand early in Octob-. er.

He will represent New Zealand at the British Commonwealth and Empinre tuberculosis conference to be held in London from July 8 to 10, At this conference Dr Taylor will give a paper on New Zealand and its island dependencies in relation to tuberculosis control.

He will attend a conference at Edinburgh in the middle of July, of tuberculosis associations, and will later be the New Zealand Government delegate to the conference of the International Union Against Tuberculosis at Paris.

At this gathering the use of the new drug streptomycin will be discussed. From the end of July and for most of August Dr Taylor will be visiting Scandinavia, and will attend the International Conference of Physicians in London in September.

He has also been asked by the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association to represent New Zealand at the World Medical Association General Assembly in Paris in the middle of the same month.

He hopes 1o be present also on September 26 at a refresher course to be held at Oxford on the pathology and bacteriology of tuberculosis.
