Branch Breaks Bus Pane; Glass in Eye
In an accident of unusual origin, Mrs G. Hansard, of Parua Bay, suffered an eye injury which was caused by splintered glass. When a bus bound for Whangarei Heads pulled over to one sido of Clotworthy’s Hill to allow another vehicle to pass safely, a branch shattered one of the windows and broken glass entered Mrs Hansard’s eyes.
The accident occurred at about 3.15 p.m. yesterday.
The injured woman vyas returned to Whangarei, where she received medical attention. She was able to proceed to her home later, as the injuries were not serious. Bus drivers state that the branch had been overhanging the road for some time and several motorists had hit it. It has now” been removed.
