£llOO Worth Of Suiting Stolen

(Special ) AUCKLAND, This Day, Over £llOO worth of men’s suit terial was pillaged at Auckland from the British steamer Fort Coulogne. Stewed in two cases apart from others consigned to the Cambridge Fac* tory, Ltd., the material was sufficient for the manufacture of at least 350 suits. When waterfront detectives first investigated the theft, they found that one case had been broken open and that the other was intact. On the following day the second case was empty.

People were buying stolen suit lengths from itinerant salesmen without asking questions, said a representative of the company.

“The general public should be given more information and should cooperate more than it is doing. Some of these salesmen are actually telling people that the goods they have are contraband.’’
