Whau Valley Retains Coombe Golf Cop
Bv 22 games to 21 the Whau Valley Golf'Club retained the Coombe Cup in the malcli against Orakei on Saturday. Each club' won 14 games in the men’s section but the Whau Valley ladies decided the issue by winning eight to the visitors’ seven. A four-ball best-ball Stableford on Saturday afternoon was won by G. Weils and A. Rhodes, both of Orakei, with a score of 39. A four-ball aggregate Stableford yesterday morning over 12 holes went to G. Curtis (Whau Valley) and A. Rhodes (Orakei). The best card ift a mixed Canadian foursomes was returned by McLaren and Mrs McLaren. Their score over 12 holes was 42 1-3 net. * Miss S. Griffin won the ladies’ medal round over 12 holes with a card of 43 1-3. The next best was Mrs R. McLaren with 45. Whcingcire Ladies At the week-end a Stableford was played by the ladies at the Mt Donby links the winner of the "A’’ grade division being Mrs 11. B. Foster with 33 points and Mrs Arneil runner-up. 31 points. In the “B" division Mrs Weaver, Mrs Weston and Mrs McMillan all played under their handicaps their Stableford points being Mrs Weaver 34, 'Mrs Weston 33, Mrs McMillan 33. In the second round of the Marion Cook Cup, Mrs Gilchrist beat Mrs Scyb 1 .up: Mrs McKay won by default; Mrs Birnie heal Miss Bentley 2 up; Mrs Nelson beat Miss Hayes 2 ud; Miss J. Stewart beat Mrs C. Finlayson /8 and 7; Mrs Farrell beat Miss Rishworth 4 and ,3; Mrs Steele beat Mrs Franklin 2 and 1; Miss Abbott beat Mrs Stewart 2 ud.

(Special.) AUCKLAND. This Day. By equalling the course record of 70 in his first qualifying round and by winning both 1 ' of his matches in the championship match play, R. H. Glading. the New Zealand open champion, proved the outstanding competitor in the Auckland winter golf championship, which reached the semi-final stages on the Akarana club's course yesterday. Glading and L. B. Johnston, of Titirangi, J. W.* Morrison, of North Shore, and J. Pelham, of Maungakiekie, reached the semifinals. The scores of the 1G qualifiers in the championship were: R. H.
