Kaikohe’s Modern Telephone Exchange

(Special) KAIKOIiE, This Day. Incorporating' the latest type of multiple switchboard, the new telephone exchange recently installed at Kaikohe is now the most modern in the Dominion. A three channel carrier-wave system giving three additional telephone circuits to Auckland is also to be installed in the new post office, and is now being assembled. The single channel system which it will replace will be used as an additional circuit to Whangarei. A machine for telegraphic transmission and reception is also to be installed. ADDITIONS IN WAIKATO

The Cambridge telephone service is to be increased from 600 to 900 lines. Ninety prospective subscribers are awaiting connections in this area.

The Morrinsville telephone service is also on the list for an increase from 450 lines to 600, while new telephone equipment is to 1|: installed at Cambridge, Otorohanga and Morrinsville. In the South Auckland area, controlled from Hamilton, there are 2300 householders and business people waiting for telephones.
