Millions Of Sheep Lost
(Spec, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 14. It is estimated that 3,000.000 Lowland sheep and 850,000 on higher country have been lost as a result of the snow storms.
These figures are by no means complete, as many northern districts are still deep in snow and the full extent of the losses cannot be estimated. The value of the sheep already lost is stated to be nearly £20,000,000. On the Lowlands alone it is estimated that 250,000.000 meat rations have already been lost. It is considered that the effects of the losses will be felt in British home meat production for at least tne next three years. Scottish losses have not yet been computed, and the figures so far given apply only to England and Wales.
