Otaika
The annual meeting of the Otaika Women’s Mission Guild, held last Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs J. Middleton, was well attended. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs J. Middleton; secretary, Miss Dell Cotton; treasurer, Mrs A. Marsh; vice-president, Mrs Brough. The hostess served afternoon tea. On the reopening of Otaika School last Monday, the newly appointed infant mistress, Miss Sumner, commenced duties. During the vacation, visitors to Otaika were: Mr and Mrs Kilford, of Hawke’s Bay, staying with Mrs Kilford junr; Mr and Mrs Morris, of Auckland, with Mrs H. Paki; Mrs Johnson senr, of Auckland, with Mrs W. Johnson junr; Mrs Burch, of Mangere, with Mrs Holmes; Mrs McDonald, of Tauraroa, with Mrs Martin; Mrs Saxton, of Hawke’s Bay, with her daughter, Mrs Ray Kilford. Mrs C. Clarke went to Christchurch; Mesdames Johnson and Vucich are camping at Parua Bay; Mrs G. Edge senr, with her sister, Mrs Meredith, at Grey Lynn; Miss Betty Holmes accompanied Mr and Mrs Going and party to Nelson for the hop-picking season; Mr Edge senr and Mr Jack Edge are motoring to Auckland for the week-end.
Mr Flesher and family have had their house moved from its elevated position in Kaigoose Valley Road to a section on the new main highway.
