Spare Tyre Kills Boy
fP.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A small boy was fatally injured when a spare tyre which fell from a truck crashed through the windscreen of a sedan car travelling in the opposite direction. He was: I'hiliip Lees, aged 5 years, of 94 Moxha.m Avenue, Hataitai, Wellington. The boy received severe head injuries and was unconscious when admitted to the public hospital at Lower Hutt. where he died at 8 pan. The driver of the car (Mr M. Manning. of Wellington) received injuries to r.is face, and was treated ami discharged. The accident occurred south of Stokes Valley on the Taita Gorge road at 340 p.m. yesterday. HIT BY CAR Injuries from which she later died were .suffered by an elderly widow when she was knocked down by a motor car in Dominion Road last night. She was: Mrs Emma Amelia Ann Goodwill, aged 34, of 96 Dominion Road, Mt Eden. The accident occurred at about 7.30 | p.m.. Mrs Goodwill was crossing Do- ! minion Road outside her home and ! apparently stepped out from behind a | motor car which was proceeding south i and was struck by another going north.
FATALLY CRUSHED Crushed between two lorries in the railway yards at Thorr.don yesterday morning, a man received fatal injuries. He was:
James John Troy, supervisor of mails in the Post and Telegraph Depaitment, who resided at Miramar Avenue, Wellington.
KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAM Serious injuries were suffered by an eldeily man when he was knocked down by a tramcar in Queen Street, Auckland, yesterday. He was: James Gardner, aged 84, single, cf Whitianga, Mercury Bay. He received concussion and was admitted to the Auckland Hospital.
