French Victory !n Indo-China
(Rec. 1 0.m.) PARIS, Jan. 22. Following combined operations which the French launched yesterday west of Hanoi, the French claim that they completely control the great Ake area of northern Indo-China says a communique from Hanoi, the French capturing numerous road blocks, and tank traps-
The communique adds that the Viet Namese suffered heavy losses in men and equipment. The French authorities at Saigon announce that French troops thwarted a determined Veit Nam attempt to blockade Saigon port by cutting roads and railways, blowing up bridges and blocking river operations in southern Indo-China.
Viet Namese force began an attempted blockade last week with a series of coordinatd operations over a widespread area, which failed thanks to the untiring action of French forces. The French News Agency says that nearly 100 French and Spanish Roman Catholic missionaries have been missing in northern Indo-China since large-scale fighting began on December 19.
