Brighter Outlook For Gas, Meat
(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Gas will probably be available again in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide early next week. At an early hour this morning the Australasian Council of Trades Unions, meeting in Melbourne, decided to recommend to employees that they return to work on the employers' terms pending the hearing of claims |by the Arbitration Court. Atlhough the master butchers at their meeting decided to keep their shops closed and not to meet again until next Thursday there was an atmosphere of optimism among memjbers that the dispute would be settled satisfactorily. The secretary of the Meat and Allied Trades Federation said it was hoped that before Thursday there would be concrete and favourable developments.
