Improved Facilities For Rotorua Golfers
(Special) ROTORUA, This Day. A second golf course may be constructed by the Rotorua Golf Club.
The final decision rests on whether the club can acquire from the Government about 100 acres of reserve land adjacent to the existing Arikikapakapa links. The site contains rolling country with ideal contours for golf. The proposed course will be of championship standard. Rotorua has long needed increased facilities for golfers. The present course is inadequate to cater for • the number of tourists and visitors. More • than 300 players have'* been on the course during a single Sunday.
The proposal has been supported by the Rotorua Borough Council and if the club was given a satisfactory tenure of he land by the Government it has been estimated that development could be completed within three year#
