Barter Babies For lib. Coffee
(10 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 25. German foster-parents are bartering babies for as little as a pound of coffee, reports Reuter'scorrespondent at Herford. The babies are those which Nazis kidnapped from overrun European countries. A welfare worker at UNRRA’s child sanctuary at Auermuchle, North Germany, said many German foster-mothers had grown weary of Nazi-imposed responsibility. The majority of “adopted" children were in a low state of health. After they were nursed back to health they would be repatriated.
