"Anti Humbug” is certainly a true specimen of the Government supporter, always full of grouch about the National Party’s POLITICAL policy. Why this POLICIES worry and anxiety if, after all these years, the present policy has proved so good and faultless? After 10 years we find Mr Nash clinging to orthodox finance closer than an octopus would to a rock. Naturally a one-eyed Government could not realise that the wealth of a nation is the goods and services produced. So what could we expect but a policy of inflation manipulated by the issuing of currency far beyond production? Approximately three years ago Mr Fraser received a mandate from the farmers of New Zealand reading: “You can fool some farmers some of the time but not all the farmers all the time.” Judging by what one hears from the average working man who thinks for himself, he has adopted the same thought as his friend the farmer. Who can condemn him? So if the opportunity of equation has been missed by Mr Nash why persecute a man or party prepared to put into operation a long awaited policy. "INDEPENDENT.”

Yesterday’s Advocate spotlights the Ratepayers’ Association, and it is 70 be hoped that members sit up and take notice of BOROUGH WATER the remarks of SUPPLY "Genuine Ratepayer." Many of us in Northland were led to believe we were being slowly exterminated by Borough Council and Hatea water, whereas we had eventually to realise that the scheme, as an auxiliary one, was absolutely necessary. I have carefully examined the position, and the more I Icok into the question the more I am convinced that the Works Committee deserve much credit for their action.

I am authoritatively informed that the Poroti scheme is in its preliminary stage, and that Hatea is only an emergency until the major plant is in use. I know that members of the Ratepayers’ Association have been emphatically informed that ratepayers themselves’will finally decide which scheme to adept. It is time we gave a little thanks to those endeavouring to make the best of an awkward position, and rectify mistakes made by others. "ANOTHER RATEPAYER.”
