New Plymouth suffered a minor flood yesterday morning shortly before 11 o’clock, when torrential ram swept the town with the intensity of a tropical downpour. Between 9.20 a.m. and 2 p.m. 2.07 m of rain were recorded.

Although no serious damage was reported, the flooding in the town and suburbs was the worst since February. 1935.
