Annamese Adopt Scorched Earth Policy
(Rc. 3.20 p.m.) SAIGON, Jan. 4. The countryside around Saigon is aflame as Annamese, resisting the advancing French troops, apparently are pursuing a scorched earth policy, reports a correspondent of the -Associated Press. *
Meeting stubborn opposition, the French are reported to be unable to reach one of the biggest conflagrations believed to be a Government warehouse containing 20,000 tons of rubber.
Smoke is handicapping aerial reconnaissance.
