NEW SOUTH WALES TEMPERATURES TOP THE CENTURY
(Rec. 12.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Temperatures topped the century in numerous places in New South Wales yesterday when a heat wave swept the State.
The highest temperature was 111 at Bourke for the third successive day. In Sydney the maximum was 102.2. Three people are reported to have died from heat prostration in Sydney, Ambulances treated many people who collapsed. A dense dust pall covered the whole of the central and southern parts of the State and dust-storms struck many towns.
Fire brigades and volunteers were kept busy fighting bush fires in many areas.
