Urges American Development In Pacific
HONOLULU, Jan. 2
Mr. Maury Maverick, who is en route to Washington after a toyr of New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines and China, said he would recommend to President Truman a programme of development in the Pacific to aid American business.
Mr. Maverick, who is chairman of the smaller War Plants Corporation added:
“Firstly, we need a more adequate news coverage in-the Pacific.
“Secondly, we need a firm and generous policy. “Thirdly, I want to coin a new word for the Pacific, ‘Ada,’ meaning the closest co-operation between An-glo-Dominion and American interests. “Fourthly, the United States must keep its installations in the Pacific.”
RECORD.—A new record for a Skymaster plane on the Newfoundland to Eire flight was established when a machine touched down after a trip of 7hrs. 58mins.
