Going Ahead With Plan For Airline

(Rec. 11 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day

The Federal Government iniends to go ahead with its plan to establish a Commonwealth inter-State airline.

This decision has been made in spite of the High Court judgment that parts of the Airlines Act are invalid.

A Government spokesman said: “We shall establish our own airline, though the date of its inauguration has not yet been fixed. 4 ’

It is believed that the Government will use control of airmail subsidies and ownership of aerodromes and navigational facilities to ensure that the Government airline is able to compete on a favourable basis with private services.
