No Road Fatalities Since November 30
(P.A. WELLINGTON, This Day. Not a single motor fatality was reported from anywhere in New Zealand between November 30 and December 18, said the for Transport (Hon J. O’Brien) yesterday.' “This is easily the longest accidentfree period since 1936,” said the Minister, :“although not as long a spell of •deathless days’ as was experienced once soon after Mr Semple began his Hoad Safety Campaign.
“This break of 17 consecutive days without a motor fatality is noteworthy. The spell was broken by the death of a passenger who fell from a truck when it collided with another vehicle at Otaki on Tuesday. “It is my hope that the rest of the month, when so many holiday-makers will be out on the road, will be as free from serious accidents as the weeks that have just passed,” said Mr O’Brien. “Whether this will be the case depends almost wholly upon the roaduser himself.”
