Mr James Fox

The death has occurred in Whangarei of Mr. James Fox, for many years foreman of the Moerewa Freezing 'Works.

He was born in Timaru and educated at Waimataitai School. Always a keen Rugby player, he represented South Canterbury in the forwards, and was playing against Auckland in the same team in which the late Mr. C. F. Collins, of Whangarei, also played

Mr. Fox was in the meat export trade in various New Zealand freezing works from the time of leaving school until he retired in 1938. For the last 17 years of his career he v/as employed by the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company, part of which time he spent as foreman of the Moerewa Freezing Works, Since his retirement, Mr, Fox has resided at 22 Kensington Avenue, Whangarei. An ardent member of the Anglican Church, he was prominent in C.E.M.S. affairs and was one of those responsible for the erection of St. Saviour’s Church at Moerewa. He Was church warden and vestryman for many years.

Pie took a keen interest in Masonic affairs and was a member of Masonic Lodge, Northern Light, 1878 E.C., Kawakawa.

He is survived by Mrs. Fox and one daughter, Mrs. N. Dickie, of Moerewa. Another daughter died some years ago.

The funeral took'pi ace at Kawakawa today. The Rev. F. Allen conducted the service at St. Paul’s Church, leaving s afterwards for the Kav/akawa Cemetery. Archdeacon A F,, Prebble led the' requiem service yesterday morning at Christ Church, Whangarei.
