Want Vetinary School In N.Z.

(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. The Minister for Agriculture (the Hon B. Roberts) has been urged to establish a veterinary school in New Zealand immediately. The recommendation is made in a memorandum sent to the Minister by the Massey College Board of Governors. Comment is made on the report of the Veterinary Services Committee, which recommended that consideration of a school for New Zealand be deferred until it was certain that New Zealand would permanently employ at least 250 veterinarians. The board claims that the maintenance of even 250 veterinarians warrants a school in. New Zealand, and that the present number of 95 is not going to be raised to 185 or 250 easily. The bursaries for New Zealanders to attend the Sydney school, if continued at the present high rate of 16 a year, would take until 1952 to provide the 185, and until 1956 to reach 250.
