Calls For Return Of S. Tyrol To Austria
(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 19. Amid applause, Dr Karl Renner, outgoing Austrian Chancellor, called for the immediate return of South Tyro] to Austria when the newly-elect-ed Austrian Parliament held its first session, reports Reuter’s Vienna correspondent.
Pie thanked the Allies, particularly the Red Army, for liberating Austria, but denounced the demarcation lines between the Allied occupation zones.
“We shall only be free when we are masters cf our own house,” he said. Both Chambers meet jointly tomorrow to elect Dr Renner President of the Republic. He will then name the Government formed by his successor as Chancellor, Dr Leopold Figl. The Cabinet consist of 8 members cf the People’s (Catholic) Party, 6 Socialists, 1 Communist, 2 non-party-ites, both of whom were in the last Government.
