Indefatigable Leaves With Two Destroyers
(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day H.M.S. Indefatigable, Wizard and Urchjn completed their New Zealand visit yesterday. Tli big carrier .left Auckland at 4 p.m. • for Sydney. Her future movements are indefinite, but it is generally expected that she will be sent shortly after Christmas to the China Station, going to the Far East by way of southern Australian ports. Vice-Admiral Sir Philip Vian left in his flagship. A swift flutter of signal flags and the shrill of boatswains’ pipes marked the end of his visit, as courtesies were exchanged with H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel and ships at Calto various Auckland authorities exliope Wharf. Admiral Vian has also sent letters pressing his appreciation for the kindness and hospitality extended to his ships. There is no doubt that officers and ratings enjoyed their New Zealand visit.
The departure of the Indefatigable and her attendant destroyers leaves only one British warship, the destroyer Barfleur, in port. She is undergoing refit at Devonport.
