Mexican Accusation
MEXICO CITY, Dec. 18
The United States Ambassador to Mexico (Mr George Messersmith) has lodged a formal protest with the Foreign Minister of Mexico (Senor Bajera), following a speech by the Mexican Labour leader, Senor Vincente Lombardo Toledano, who accused certain United States firms of smuggling weapons across the border to members of the Sinarquist Union for a Catholic movement which opposes the Mexican Government Party.
,Senor Toledano claimed that the Amei'ican firms desired to foment a rebellion designed to put in power a United States quisling as President of Mexico. Senor Toledano left no doubt who the quisling could be when he said Senor Padilla, the Presidential candidate at the next election, was seeking American aid in the fight against Senor Miguel Aleman, the Government candidate.
