Assistant Engineer For Whangarei County?
Consideration is to be given next year by the Whangarei County Council to securing the services of an assistantengineer with the view tiiat this appointee later might take over the position of county engineer, when ihe present engineer (Mr J. Norris) resigns. This ac'ion was taken following the engineer reporting as follows to the council: "The return of peace brings into prospect increased engineering activity but there is little signs yet of the necessary finance for considerable development by 1 tie council. Should a big increase be projected the time would be opportune to give consideration to reorganisation of the council's engineering services. Rehabilitation consideration may render it advisable to recast the council’s set up. I am not asking for assistance nor yet immediate termination of services, but in face of rehabilitation and possible early county amending legislation. I bring the matter to the council's notice now so that some timely consideration could be given by the council and myself as .to what adjustments may be necessary."
