FIRST BRITISH GUN SALUTE FOR VICTORY

LONDON, May 6 The first British victory gun salute of the war was fired outside Field - Marshal Montgomery’s headquarters yesterday afternoon, cables a correspondent with the British 2nd Army. The salute was fired by three batteries of eight guns each. Twenty-four heavy anti-aircraft guns each discharged 21 salvoes to celebrate the surrender of Field-Marshal Busch’s forces facing the 21st Army Group.
