MINISTER TO VISIT NORTH ON HOSPITAL RATE INVESTIGATION
(Special) KAIKOHE, This Bay. The Minister for Health (Hon. A. H. Norilmeyer), possibly in company with the Director-Gen-eral for Health (Br M. 11. Watt), will shortly make # tour of the North in a personal investigation into the vexed question of hospital rating. The visit is expected within three weeks or a month. This information was given at the Bay of Islands Hospital Board’s monthly meeting on Wednesday evening- by Mr S. W. Smith, M.P., who is a member of the board. “The Minister seems to be dead set on amalgamation of the northern hospital boards,” added Mr Smith. “I am convinced he is going to force amalgamation on us sooner or later. “I am sure no board would oppose amalgamation if the rating position were clarified,” stated Mr Smith. This view was endorsed by the meeting.
