Bishop In Far North
(Special) KAITAIA. This Day. In tire course of his visit to Northland, the Bishop of Auckland (Rt. Rev. J. Simkin) arrived in the Kaitaia Parish on Thursday, and held a confirmation service at Peria. On Friday morning he held confirmation services at. Pamapuria and later at Pukepoto. There he had lunch in the Maori meeting house, and followed it with a discussion on church matters in that area. In Kaitaia on Friday .evening he addressed the girls’ Bible Class. Saturday was spent in interviews and in the evening the Bishop met the vestry and discussed with them parish matters under the prevailing conditions. On Sunday, after celebrating Holy Communion at St. Saviours. Kaitaia. at 8 a.m. he held a confirmation service at Awanui, where six candidates were presented. I-Ie was entertained at lunch there.
Sunday afternoon was spent visiting the hospital, and in the evening at St. Saviours 20 candidates were confirmed.After the service, a well attended social gathering in his honour was held in the Parish Hall. During his stay, His Lordship was the guest of Rev. and Mrs. Collard Scruby. He left Kaitaia on Monday for Broadwood and Kohukohu, where further confirmation services were held.
