Rain In Auckland
(Spec.; AUCKLAND, This Dav. Changeable conditions continue «n Auckland, and at one period last night an inch of rain was recorded in an hour and a half. There was more lightning and thunder today and conditions are again changeable, heavy showers being interspersed with bright sunshine. The City Council’s dams in the Wailakore ranges are now more titan two thirds full, with a total of 1,004,000,000 gallons. This week the storage has increased by 90.000,000 gallons. With bushland in the catchment: areas thoroughly soaked the three main streams are flowing strongly and. in the lower Nihotupu Valley there was such a flow ot water that it was necessary to discontinue pumping at the auxiliary plant. The full holding capacity of the clams is ! .509,000.000 gallons. In spite of the widespread nature of Ihe rain, daily consumption of water in Auckland is 1(5.000,000 gallons.
