Sends Letters After Death Reported

On February 2 Mr and Mrs J. A. Neale, of Matapouri, received advice from the Marine Department, Wellington, that their son, Ordinary-Seaman William G. Neale, who is only 17 years of age, had lost his life as a result of enemy action on March 20, 1943, and on March 8 last a Press cable from London contained similar information.

Mr and Mrs Neale, however, have received several letters dated since the day he was reported to have lost his life, the last being an airgraph dated February 13, 1944. They have also received a photograph of their son and another Whangarei man. Corporal T. Cowells, taken in Alexandria since the date of his reported death. Communication vf.th the Marine Department has resulted in advice- that it is communicating with the Minister for War Transport, England, on the subject.

Crdinary-Seaman Neale is a brother of Mrs J. P. Woods, Whangarei.
