King’s Birthday Observance
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day.
In response to inquiries regarding observance of the King’s Birthday on June 5, the Minister for Labour, the Hon. P. C. WetJb, stated today that except for essential undertakings where directions were issued by the controller that work should continue on the King’s Birthday, the usual holiday provisions in any Act, award or agreement should be observed. All workers employed on the King’s Birthday would be paid the holiday rates prescribed, subject to any modification or suspension order issued under the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations.
