Gallagher was charged with the theft at Moerewa on March 1 of a suit valued at. .€!>. property of Joseph Repin, and of a pair of bools valued at 21/-. property of Frank Waa. The suit, was recovered hut the boots had been worn out in tlie mines. However, following inquiries by the Hikurangi police, accused had replaced the hoots. On the first charge lie was fined .CIO. On the second he was fined £5 and ordered!’to pay witnesses’ expenses of Cl/1/4.
