Transport Of Wool

(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. Emphasising that any delay in the arrival of wool at the Auckland stores was not due to railway restrictions, the chairman of the Auckland Woolbrokers’ Association (Mr H. Duke) made an explanation ol the wool transport position to'day. As in the previous season, he said, it was found necessary this season to control the intake of wool in order to avoid excessive congestion at the stores. The association asked the railways to cooperate in regulating the handling of supplies and that wool had not come forward earlier was not due to any truck shortage. The railways had been working entirely on advice received from the brokers as to the number of trucks needed each day. Mr Duke pointed out that the next and final appraisal this season was now scheduled to start on April 27, and growers were urged to get into touch with their local stationmaster so that from now on wool could come forward on a regulated basis for that aporaisement. It was interesting to note that at the end of February the amount of wool brought forward and appraised was considerably greater than at the corresponding period last year.
