Rain Stops Cricket, Bowling Today

The Hikurangi Bowling Club’s oneday full-rink tournament which commenced this morning, was abandoned after two rounds of 11 heads had beer played. Heavy rain commenced shortly before noon, apd as at 1.30 p.m. it was still raining, no further play was possible. The rain was so heavy that at one time the green was completely covered with water. There was no play on the Whangarei Club’s greens this afternoon on account of the weather. Although held up by rain at times, play took place on the Kensington Club's green. Cricket Cancelled As wickets at both Kensington Park and the Whangarei High School grounds were sodden and in a bad condition for play, the Whangarei Cricket Association’s emergency committee decided shortly before piay was due to commence, that competitions for this afternoon should be cancelled.
