Huntly Mines Idle
(Special) HUNTLY, This Day. The Glen Afton and Macdonald mines operated by Glen Afton Collieries, Limited, were idle yesterday following stop-work meetings held at the mines yesterday morning. At the Macdonald mine 250 men are normally employed and at Glen Afton 180. It is understood a dispute over the cavilling was the cause of the meeting at the Glen Afton mine, while at the Macdonald a dispute has arisen as the result of the management transferring a surface worker from that colliery to Glen Afton. Work at both mines will be resumed on Monday. At a meeting this afternoon between union delegates and representatives of the management the cavilling dispute was settled, and it was agreed that men employed at the Macdonald mine should begin work as usual on Monday and that the dispute should then be discussed further.
