Fine Response To Mangonui Patriotic Appeal

Mr. Peter Yerkovieh, well-known resident of Waiharara, has done a fine job

during the last lew weeks by organising a drive for patriotic funds throughout the North and even down as far as Auckland. He has approached many of his countrymen and friends and collected the fine total of £176/1/6. Although this is a magnificent response from Mr. Yerkovieh’s countrymen, Mr. Yerkovieh states that some of the folk waited on were not in a position to contribute as they would have liked, and that these will be given the further opportunity of subscribing either direct to him or to the county treasurer at the council chambers. All further contributions will be acknowledged/ The county is greatly indebted to Mr. Yerkovieh for this fine effort, particularly as the suggestion of making the collection was his, and its success due to his personal enthusiasm. The patriotic executive is looking forward to a further good result from those who are still willing to contribute, as all the money collected is for the boys overseas, on whose behalf it is wisely spent. The above total will be credited to those ridings from which the individual donations came, except for donations outside the county, which will be credited to the Houhora-Awanui riding.
