Bay Primary Reps. Defeated By Whangarei
Unable to match its opponents in any department. Bay of Islands primary football representatives were overwhelmingly defeated by Whangarei primary representatives by 24 points to three at Rugby Park, Whangarei, •this morning. Possessing only a slight advantage in weight and manoeuvrability in the forward line, Whangarei had a great advantage in the backs and used it to best purpose. Bay of: Islands played i-.vell for the first half, but became discouraged after Whangarei had obtained a handsome lead, and played more as individuals rather than as a team. Producing good movements, the game was of a very high standard for primary football, and there were many outstanding players on the field. Pikai'i. a forward, scored the only try Bay of Islands was able to obtain and scorers for Whangarei were —Tries: Hartnell (2), Colder, Higgins, Crawford (2); conversions: Dunn (2), Hartnell.
Basketball
Bay of Islands primary basketball representatives suffered defeat at the hands of Whangarei representatives, by 24 goals to three this morning in a game on high school courts after the football match had finished. With the great accuracy of Whangarei goal throwers, and the staunch defence of Bay of Islands, the game as a result was hard and difficult, but both teams showed well and played a good match. C. North, goal thrower for Whangarei, played well, and her immediate opponent, R. Ratete, defender for Bay of Islands, put up a good defence.
