Maximum Prices For Woollen Goods
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Dav ; Numerous garments made from knitted materials or textile piece goods wholly of partially manufactured, from New Zealand wool (such as underwear, pullovers suits, overcoats and frocks) and othf-r items such as footwear, hosiery, gloves blankets, mattresses' and pillows, a-ici knitting wools were declared in March last to be within the provision of the '.Control of Prices Emergency Regulations. To give traders an opportunity to. make application for fixing of maximum pi'ices for such goods, the price tribunal has hitherto refrained irorii issuing" tile second notice contemplated by the regulations which prohibits sale oi' such gcocs unless maximum prices have been fixed for them. The tribunal has now issued the second notice but it allows a furtner 21 days before enforcement. to give traders a final opportunity to'apply for fixing maximum prices. The tribunal explains that the great majority of articles listed have alreadv been the subject of price authorisation’s or price orders but as many of them have been considered by traders to be outside the regulations and as it is essential in view of the stabilisation poliev that maximum prices be defined. ' the notices have been issued to clarify the position.
