Mr. W. S. La Trobe
(Special) AUCKLAND. This Day. The death occurred suddenly on Tuesday of Mr. William Sanderson La Trobe, C.8.E., of Glendcwie, aged 72. Mr. La Trobe, who was an outstanding figure in education in New Zealand, was born in the Waikato, and was educated at the Auckland College and Auckland Grammar School.
In 1918 he took up the newly-con-structed office of Superintendent of Technical Education in the Education Department. which he filled until his retirement in 1938, when he took up his residence at Glendowie. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
