Pigeon Returns After 5 Years Missing
After being missing for nearly five years. “Red Star” a., pigeon owned by Mr. D. Wilson of Whangarei, has returned to its home left. The pigeon was in good condition and was easily recognisable by its appearance and the number, 755 N.Z. 35, contained on a ring on its leg. Competing with another of Mr. Wilson’s pigeons in 1938 in a race from Christchurch, “Red Star” disappeared but the other pigeon returned. Winner cf many races, over both long and short distances, it was given up for lost many years ago, but about September 16, it arrived in the home loft. The pigeon was very timid at first but still recognised Its owner.
