Mrs. Arneil Wins Whau Valley Championship
In the finals of the Whau Valley Golf Club’s ladies’ championship Mrs. Arneil (17) defeated Mrs Georgeson (18) 4 and 2. This match aroused keen interest as these two ladies are on the lowest handicaps. Throughout the match the weather remained fine, although at times the wind was fairly boisterous. Mrs Arneil played orthodox golf, her net score being 91-17—74. Mrs Georgeson was not up to her usual form, but from four down at the lltli she reduced the deficit to two down at the 13th. Mrs Arneil won the 14xn and they halved the 15th, making it dormy three.
The next hole decided the match— Mrs Arneil’s drive hit a stone in the hazard and bounced towards the green while Mrs Georgeson's ball struck the edge of the green and bounced back into the bunker. Mrs Arneil won the hole, making the score 4 and 2. B GRADE BOGEY
The winner oi the B Grade bogey match, played over two rounds was Mrs. Heape, 11 down. Other good scores were Mrs. Georgeson and Mrs. Davis, both 12 down. The winner of the C Grade bogey was Miss Weir, 13 down.
A one-club match will be played during tiie week ending October 3, 1943. The draw is: Mrs. Heape v. Mrs. Hailes. Miss Landers v. Mrs. Georgeson, Mrs. Lane v. Mrs. Frew, Mrs. McMillan v. Mrs. Ford, Miss Morgan v. Miss Fleming', Mrs. Oliver v. Miss Dwen, Miss Pitney v. Mrs. Dawson. Mrs. Potter v. Mrs. Davis. Mrs. Snow v. Miss Carmichael, Miss Tucker v. Mrs. Caution, Mrs. Wakelin v. Miss Brown, Miss Weir v. Miss Beasley, Miss Winter v. Mrs. Baigent, Mrs. Wills v. Mrs. Archibald, Mrs. Adams v. Mrs. Arneil.
