Double Wedding
The Anglican Church, Warkworth, was the scene of a very pretty double wedding on August 2Slh. Maureen and Betty, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Mainland, of Kaipara Flats, were married respectively to Trevor, second son of Mrs. M. Hill, Finch Street, Morning-side, and Lieutenant Walter Neal, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Neal, Port Albert. The Rev. J. B. Rush worth officiated and Mrs. Dobbs presided at the organ. The two brides, who were given away by their father, looked very charming, dressed in full-length frocks of white georgette, Maureen wore an heirloom brooch of turquoise and ivory, while Betty wore pearls. Their waist-length veils were held in place by a coronet of real orange blossom, and they carried bouquets of cream daffodils, cyclamen, chiffon daisies. and orange. blossom, mingled with maidenhair and asparagus fern.
The bridesmaids, Misses Ruth Mainland, sister of the two brides, and Ida Thompson, wore frocks of cyclamen marquisette over taffeta, and carried floral muffs of erica, cyclamen and freezias. with matching topknots. The first bridegroom was attended by his younger brother, Mr. Winston Hill; and the second, also by his brother, Ptivate Wesley Neal. Private Cyril Cowan and Mr. Alex Morrison acted as ushers. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the brides, two beautiful floral bells being one of the main features. The reception was held in the, parish hall, where Mrs. Mainland received her guests wearing a frock of midnight blue wool nfghaline, with matching accessories Mrs Hill chose black for her woollen coat, while Mrs. Neal wove, a grey costume.
