The stableford played at the Mt. Denby links over the week-end was won by A. W. Kirkwood with a score of 45. Other good cards were: A. R Ryder, 33; H. K. Clarke, 32; G. Gilchrist and W. Glanville, 31. Mr. Kirkwood, the winner of the competition, who played off a stroke handicap of 10. gave an outstanding performance. returning a score of 11 under his handicap and a gross score of one under the scratch score for the course. WHANGAREI LADIES Played last week-end, the flag match was won in the senior division by Mrs. Aplin. who placed the flag in the 17th hole, and in the junior division by Miss P. Abbott, who carried the flag to the 19th fairway. Gainers of points in the L.G.U. were:— Silver division: Mrs. Aplin, three points. Miss O. Abbott, two points: Mrs. Glanville, one point. Bronze division: -Miss P. Abbott, three points: Mrs. Nelson, two points; Mrs. Jarvis, one point. The first and second rounds of the championship resulted: —Senior, first round: Mrs. Franklin beat Mrs. Glanville by default; other players, byes. Second round: Mrs. Stewart beat Mrs. Franklin, one up; Mrs. Robertson beat Mrs. Aplin, one up; Miss O. Abbott beat Mrs. Martin, one up at the 19th; Mrs. Laird beat Mrs. Jarvis, six and five. Junior, first round: Mrs. Weston beat Mrs. Dyer by default; Mrs. James beat Mrs. Crosby by default; Mrs. Gilchrist beat Mrs. A. Clarke, five and four; Mrs. Birnie beat Mrs. Morton, five and four; Miss Ryder beat Miss P. Abbott, six and five; other players, byes.
