Prisoner Of The Vatican
LONDON, Sept. 14
The Pope intends to constitute himself a voluntary prisoner by reestablishing conditions prevailing before the Lateran Treaty of 1929. Until the Lateran Treaty no Pope had left the Vatican since 1870, as a protest against the entry of King Victor Emmanuel’s troops into Rome and the conquest of the last of Papacy’s temporal possessions.
Reported Death Of M. Herriott
(Rec. 2 p.m.) LONDON, September 24. The Berlin correspondent of the Stockholm newspaper “Svenska Dagbladet” reports that M. Herriot, former French Prime Minister, has died at a sanatorium in the south of France.
