Britain’s Increased Flax-Growing
(8.0. W.) RUGBY, September 24. In 1939 Britain grew 400 acres of flax for fibre. In 1943 she grew over 52,000 acres—more than 130 times as much. j These figures were given today in a speech by Earl de la Warr, Director of> Home Production in the Ministry of Supply. He added that last year .production increased more than threefold over the previous year, while the new crop had shown promise of a yet further large increase.
