Germans Moving Out Of Corsica
(Received 12.15 p.m.) (8.0. W.) RUGBY, Sept. 24. Under pressure from troops and patriots working in closest collaboration, the enemy continues to withdraw towards north Corsica. destroying roads, bridges and .installations, states today’s Corsica communique. Several score of enemy transport planes were observed yesterday evacuating troops from Corsica, seven of which were shot down, says Reuter's Algiers correspondent. Large numbers of small boats were also seen making evacuation of troops. It is officially stated in Corsica that two cruisers, three submarines and six destroyers of the French Fleet participated in the recent transportation of troops and supplies to Corsica. Important Fortress Captured French forces have captured the Sanstefano fortress, commanding the Bastia area, and are now advancing from points only eight miles away from the port itself.
