1 NO BOMBS NEEDED TO STOP OUR ELECTRICITY It is not taking daring raiders to break our electricity supply as the R.A.F. broke the German supply by dam-blasting. We are doing it day by day, surely and swiftly, by placing upon production of power plants an intolerable burden—a burden under which machinery will eventually crack unless eased. It can only be eased by reducing unessential electrieit3 r consumption . . . for war industries and camps must have all the power they need. Do it voluntarily—it’s the easiest way out. Don’t run your heater during daytime, don’t, use a radiator unless you have to . . . don’t run your cooker at a higher heat or a moment longer than necessary. When you finish . . . switch off. —lssued by the Electricity Controller, Public Works Department. 921
